A walkthrough of AdGen's chained builder — drag templates onto a canvas, connect them in sequence, and ship a finished ad in one render.

Build it block by block

There are two ways to make an ad in AdGen. The wizard takes a brand, picks one template, and renders it. The chained builder lets you stitch several templates back-to-back so a single ad can carry a hook, a feature beat, a comparison, and a CTA — each in the template that fits it best.

This is the same pattern you see on TikTok and Reels — short, punchy scenes glued together. The difference is you don't need to film, cut, or pay anyone. You drag blocks.

What a block is

A block is one template's worth of footage — a few seconds of video with its own copy, assets, and motion. Blocks come from the palette on the left. They include things like:

  • Big hook — bold question or claim, full-bleed.
  • Step flow — a numbered sequence (3 steps fits 10 seconds well).
  • App reel — phone-frame video of your product over a caption.
  • Reaction split — a face clip on top, your app demo below.

How chaining works

  1. Drag a block onto the canvas. It becomes a node in the graph.
  2. Configure it. Each block has its own short form — headline copy, which clip to use, the CTA text.
  3. Connect it to the next block. Drag a line from the output handle to the next block's input handle.
  4. Repeat until the chain ends at a CTA.

When you hit Generate, AdGen renders every block back-to-back into one MP4 with consistent music, voiceover (paid plans), and brand styling.

A starter chain that works

If you're staring at a blank canvas, this is a chain we'd build for almost any app, course, or product:

  1. Big hook — a 2–3s question. "Spending 4 hours a week on ads?"
  2. Step flow — 3 steps showing how your product solves it.
  3. App reel — 5–6s of actual product footage with a benefit caption over it.
  4. CTA — short ask. "Try it free — link below."

The first ad you make doesn't need to be clever. It needs to be specific — a real promise, a real demo, a real CTA. Polish comes later.

Common mistakes

Too many blocks. Five blocks at three seconds each is fifteen seconds of cuts. The viewer's brain gives up. Aim for 3–4 blocks, with the first one earning the next.

The hook isn't a hook. "Introducing AdGen" is not a hook. "I deleted Canva yesterday — here's what replaced it" is a hook. The first 1.5 seconds decide whether anyone watches the rest.

No CTA. Every chain should end with something the viewer can do right now. A URL, a handle, a sale. If the ad doesn't ask, the ad doesn't convert.

Where to go from here

Build one chain. Render it. Post it somewhere — even just to yourself. Watch it on your phone, the way your audience will watch it.

If a block feels weak, swap it. AdGen re-renders fast, and re-rendering is cheaper than re-shooting. That's the whole point of the chained builder — you're iterating on structure, not on footage.
